To: Teacher Vanessa and her students here,
My name is "takaram".
I am a newcomer to Teacher Vanessa's Blogging English Club, and it was just at this moment
that I was able to access the blog over here for the first time as a newcomer.
I have been a long distance learner of EFI from Yokohama, Japan since January, 2001.
Although I will be 80 years old next year, I am glad to say that I am hale and hearty for my age
thanks to my exercising efforts of swimming three times a week in a public pool here in this
city. It is a pity to me that I have no other hobbies in particular worthy of its name.
My major subject was at a university was English and my graduation thesis was "Gerund
preceded by Substantives." I primarily wanted to have become an English teacher at a Senior
High School, to start with, after the commencement.
As a matter of fact, however, I began my career as an employee of one of the so-called
"Sougou shousha" in Japanese, or "General Trading Houses." In the meantime, I was assigned
to a post abroad three times while I was working for the company - Rangoon, Burma (Yangon,
Myanmar), Dacca, East Pakistan (Dhaka, Bangladesh) and Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
in the Caribbean Sea.
I have been studying English for more than half a century so far.
As for the level in question, my mother tongue is Japanese, and accordingly I feel inclined to
evaluate my writing, reading, speaking and hearing knowledge of English to be so so.
Last but not least, as regards my learning goal, I wish I could write on, in due course, what I
have experienced during my assignment to the oversea offices of the company.
So far thank you,
Regards,
takaram.
